HomeRV Preservation Launch & Captains Training 2019

2019 R/V Preservation Launch & Captains Training

Closing Report:

The launch and Captains training and review session was delayed this year because of the delay in completing the painting tasks scheduled for the vessel.  The weather was very wet this year and delayed the painting process.

We were able to complete all scheduled mechanical tasks such as the annual maintenance on the engines and transmissions.  We were also able to complete other items inside the cabin area when it was raining.

The Captain Training and Review are dependent on when we launch the boat.  This year we were able to launch the boat Sunday June 2, at 11:30 AM.  We still had paint to apply and dry but had to proceed with the launch to be able to complete the training session.

All Captains, Operators and Crew that are required to participate were at the training session to go through both the operation of the vessel and go through the GLSPS safety protocols established by the Safety Committee.

All the participants, Tim Pranke, Corey Daniel, Jim Christenson, Ken Knutson, and Phil Kerber (Trainer) were present and completed the requirements of operating the vessel.

We then cruised to the Lake Head Marina to take on fuel for the vessel and take a short tour of the harbor while grilling a few hot dogs.

Another successful event of training was completed and fun was had by all!

If you would like to participate as a crew member or go through the process of becoming an operator of the RV Preservation, please contact Phil Kerber / President and fellow Captain of the GLSPS.  His contact information is below.

Have fun and be safe
