BSA Scuba Venture Crew 820 & GLSPS joint activity
Welcome to the 11th Annual Phalen Lake Underwater Beach Cleanup Saturday May 29th, 2021.
This is a morning event, Divers and non-divers are welcome to help clean and remove lake bottom trash and debris from shore to 26 feet lake depth in the swim beach area.
Start time is at 9:00 AM Saturday morning, May 29th at the South side of the Lake Phalen Beach House building @ 1400 Phalen Drive, St. Paul, MN.,
Please park in lot on the North side of the building.
Special Announcement:
Before you arrive at the event there is paperwork that needs to be downloaded and printed 24 hours before the event. You must read all pages and understand. Starting in 2021, you will also need to fill out the Covid-19 questionnaire. When you read and understand, please sign (if you are a Guardian, you must sign for the person that's under 18 YOA), then scan and send back the forms via email to the Project Leader. These forms are required to be signed and sent in 24 hours before you arrive at the event! Failure to do so will forfeit your permission to attend or scuba dive at this event. So please send your forms in ASAP!
Please Note: If you answer any of the Medical Form Questions yes, you will need to have you Doctor sign you off and the second form of the Medical forms. If you answer all "No's" you will not have to fill out the second form.

9:00am -- Go over logistics and pair up divers and non-divers (beach area)
for shallow water and deep underwater clean-up zones.
12:00pm – Lunch provided by BSA Scuba Venture Crew 820
1:30pm -- Head home or participate in the afternoon "Underwater Golf Ball Tournament" on the North side of the swim beach area.
3:00pm – Head home after group pictures
Divers from BSA Scuba Venture Crew 820 will team up with divers from the Great Lakes Shipwreck Preservation Society (GLSPS) in the cleanup. We do need additional volunteers to serve as shore support.
Divers will find a lot of glass, pop cans, and other unusual items in the water that was thrown in the water or left on the ice, picnic tables, street signs, and other unusual items.
Afternoon event will be a competition on who can collect the most golf balls just North of the swim beach going towards the Lakeside Pavilion.
Sign-up cutoff date is Friday, May 22nd
FREE tank of air and lunch provided by BSA Venture Crew 820.
Divers will need to provide their own dive equipment, wet suits, gloves, hoods, booties.
For those walking the shallow waters for trash, wear hard sole shoes to protect your feet from sharp objects.
