Welcome to the 12th Annual Phalen Lake Underwater Beach Cleanup Saturday May 28th, 2022.
This is a morning event, Divers and non-divers are welcome to help clean and remove lake bottom trash and debris from shore to 26 feet lake depth in the swim beach area.
Start time is at 9:00 AM Saturday morning, May 28th at the South side of the Lake Phalen Beach House building @ 1400 Phalen Drive, St. Paul, MN.,
Please park in lot on the North side of the building.
The city of St. Paul has the restrooms/changing rooms open for us to use.
Special Announcement:
Due to the safety requirements of the CDC, State, Federal Governments, and the safety requirements of the GLSPS, you will need to be vaccinated for you protection from the current pandemic.
There is a new and improved "Online Liability and Waiver Form" to complete 36 to 24 hours before you arrive at the event and board the RV Preservation. You must read, understand, sign electronically and submit. Failure to do so will forfeit your permission to attend or perform any scuba diving activities at this event. Lake Phalen Beach House agenda
9:00am -- Go over logistics and pair up divers and non-divers (beach area)
for shallow water and deep underwater clean-up zones.
12:00pm – Lunch provided by BSA Scuba Venture Crew 820
1:30pm -- Head home or participate in the afternoon dive on the North side of the swim beach area weather permitting.
Divers from BSA Scuba Venture Crew 820 will team up with divers from the Great Lakes Shipwreck Preservation Society (GLSPS) in the cleanup. We do need additional volunteers to serve as shore support.
Divers will find a lot of glass, pop cans, and other unusual items in the water that was thrown in the water or left on the ice, picnic tables, street signs, and other unusual items.
Sign-up cutoff date is Friday, May 21!
FREE tank of air and lunch provided by BSA Venture Crew 820.
Divers will need to provide their own dive equipment, wet suits, gloves, hoods, booties.
For those walking the shallow waters for trash, wear hard sole shoes to protect your feet from sharp objects.
