Please register online or through Dean Soderbeck. Bring your own Dive Equipment and air tank (s) and exposure suits. Please contact your local dive shop to rent any equipment you might need. Or contact Dean Soderbeck to see if he might have a piece of dive equipment you need.

Please join the BSA Scuba Venture Crew 820 and the GLSPS Members for the Underwater Pumpkin Carving Event at Golden Acres Campground on Square Lake.


This event embodies all the elements of a perennial Scout fall classic: adventure, convenience, timeliness, creative expression, and FUN for everyone!

This is a BSA Scuba Venture Crew 820 & GLSPS joint activity.


Bring your own pumpkin and or a few extra to share.

Sign-up cutoff date is Thursday September 29th.   

GLSPS members can just watch or bring your own pumpkins and try your carving skills underwater.

This is an afternoon event starting at 12:30 pm at Golden Acres located on Square Lake.
The address is,15150 Square Lake Trail North, Stillwater, MN 55082 (Southeast side of Square Lake)
(Golden Acres vehicle and per-person fees are not included.)

No tricks!  Diving’s a treat!  As a warm-up for Halloween and fall, divers from BSA Scuba Venture Crew 820 will team up with divers from the Great Lakes Shipwreck Preservation Society (GLSPS) on this event carving pumpkins on an underwater training platform 24 feet down.      

Please Note:  We could use additional volunteers to serve as shore support.
 
“Please Bring your own pumpkins” (Some divers bring more than one to share).                                                   
The pumpkins will gutted out on shore prior to the dive, and then add some Scuba diver-rendered under water “vegetable surgery”.

Special Announcement:

Due to the safety requirements of the CDC, State, Federal Governments, and the safety requirements of the GLSPS, you will need to be vaccinated for you protection from the current pandemic.  

There is a new and improved "Online Liability and Waiver Form" to complete 36 to 24 hours before you arrive at the event and board the RV Preservation.  You must read, understand, sign electronically and submit.  Failure to do so will forfeit your permission to attend or perform any scuba diving activities at this event.  So please complete your forms ASAP!   If there are any questions, please contact the Project Leader.  Contact information is listed below.
                                                                                                                       

Underwater Pumpkin Carving Itinerary:

12:30 pm - Go over logistics and pair up divers (beach area) assemble dive equipment.
                     Gut out pumpkins, leave pumpkin lids on shore.

1:00 pm - Gut out pumpkins, place pumpkins in mesh bags (provided by Venture Crew)

1:30 pm - Divers team up and surface swim to dive platform as a group, descend to platform 24 feet deep with pumpkins & extra lead weights for pumpkins to stay on down.

2:00 pm - Paired divers surface swim back to shore and break down equipment.

3:00 pm - Hot Chocolate served on shore provided by Venture Crew 820. 
            Head home after group pictures.
