GLSPS Fun Dives with Air Down There Scuba Along the
North shore of Lake Superior on the RV Preservation.
Sunday, July 17, 2016

This will be the first annual fun dives on the north shore with a local dive shop; this year's dive shop will be Air Down There Scuba!

Unfortunately Saturday's Fun Dive has been canceled due to non interest in participation.  However, Saturday is a work project for GLSPS staff and Members.  We are going to be working on the RV Preservation Engines to tune engines (set Timing).  After this tuning on the engines is complete, we will be diving on the Hesper to install the mooring buoy.

As a member, you can sign up for Saturday to help with either task.  Please let us know by both registering and calling Ken K or Phil K.

Contact Air Down There Scuba to register for the Sunday event.
$25 for dives on Sunday, GLSPS membership required.

Each participant will be required to complete a GLSPS Master Liability Waivers - Medical Form prior to the boat leaving dock.

GLSPS Fun Dive

(R/V Preservation docked at Silver Bay Marina Slip # D 17)

Sunday, July 17, 2016

This event is put together to get our non active GLSPS Members together.  Members can also see first hand how we do things on-board the vessel which we make as safe and organized as possible.

This is NOT a cattle boat like you would see with some Charters.  It is an excellent way to join us and have the opportunity to be more active in the Society.  What ever level you decide to be at, there is a place for you as a active member.  We are always striving to gain new members and especially active members that like to dive and participate in the projects the GLSPS provides.

Diving off the GLSPS Research vessel the RV Preservation, is one of the benefits of being a member.  This is without a doubt the largest benefit the members have and can enjoy bot divers and NON divers!

The event fills up fast because of the popularity so please don't hesitate to register ASAP.

Please note: This schedule (itinerary) and dive locations could change at any time due to weather, lake conditions or any unforeseen  event.

2016 GLSPS Fun Dives with Air Down There Scuba along the North Shore of Lake Superior on the
RV Preservation
Closing Report

July 17. 2016

Phil Kerber (Captain, Event Leader), Crew, Ken Knutson

Participants, Phil Kelly, Jon Stacke, Bryan Schmidt and Karen Capistran

This is a continuation of the GLSPS Board of Directors desire to encourage people to join us as a member and to invite those that haven’t participated for a while, or not at all, to participate and meet other members.  To that end, we have four new members that enjoyed diving off the RV Preservation (Research Vessel) on shipwreck along the North Shore of Lake Superior.

Since the event was only on Sunday, we did one dive on the Madeira and the second dive on the Hesper.  The weather turned out very well, even though scattered thunderstorms were predicted most of the day.  We were able to slip in between them all day.  We were lucky.

A hardly lunch was prepared on board to keep our crew fueled.

At the end of the day we came to the conclusion that fun was had by all.

Thank you to those that helped make the event successful and all the participants that joined us for the day from Air Down There Scuba.
